Finishing our film opening, I think that we did reach our
target audience to an extent. But then again I could be biased because it is my
finishing media product and will praise it all they way.
I got my younger brother who is in secondary school and is
15 years of age, which is the age group we decided to target for the audience. I
got him to watch my video and ask him some questions on what he thought, if it
was successful and what we could’ve done to improve on it. Because he’s my
sibling he could be biased and not answer truthfully, which is a downfall. He
is also a GCSE Media student so he would pick out bits and pieces and say
things that would be in media terminology. My brother has promised to be
truthful when asking him the questions.
What stood out when watching the video?
I really liked the
beginning bit, the way the production logo was designed and the colours that
were used. I think that being a media student; I know what the colour red
connotes and what you would associate with when you saw that colour. So boys my
age would also associate it with these words, because that’s what you instantly
think when you see the colour.
What are you first thoughts/reactions when watching my film
opening?
I like the way the
credits were done, how they were on a black background. Very simple, but stands
out so that we can focus on the credits only.
Do you think this is a horror or a thriller genre and why?
I think that it a
thriller. This is because of the violence, mobs attacking and kidnapping the
young girl.
What do you think I could do to improve on my film opening?
You could’ve re
filmed the scenes where the mobs were going to hit the main character. I think
it was too dark.
From letting my
brother watching my film opening, I did end up getting some good feedback from
him. By him watching that I do feel like I have reached my targeted audience
and think they will like it. From how the production logo was made to the way
the credits were being shown throughout the footage. Although he did say that I
could’ve improved on certain things like re filming the scene where the main
character got hit . All in all, by taking in this feedback I would definitely next
time do it again but better by improving on the bits it weren’t so successful.
Overall, my brother said he’d recommend the film to his friends if it were to
come out.
